Dr. Kara Orvis is a Principal Scientist and Senior Vice President of Research and Engineering at Aptima. She has over 20 years of experience in government research and development across the military services. Her expertise is in the areas of training, leadership, teams, talent management, culture, distributed work, and unobtrusive measurement for which she has over 80 publications/presentations, including one edited book. In her current position, she leads over one hundred skilled personnel who specialize in military R&D. Dr. Orvis currently has the pleasure of serving as the Chair of the NDIA Human Systems Division. She has also been active in Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) for many years, serving as the both the Chair for Special Events the Chair for the Training Subcommittee. Dr. Orvis holds an M. A. and a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from George Mason University and a B.A. in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
