Ms. Michele Harrison is the Deputy Director of the Strategy, Innovation and Voluntary Education Division (NETC N5), Pensacola, Florida, for the largest shore command in the Navy, with a total operating budget of $2.8 billion and a workforce of over 24,000, training more than 37,000 Sailors daily at 251 learning sites worldwide. She is the principal advisor to the Commander, Naval Education and Training Command for Force Development domain’s strategic plan, research and development, innovation, data management, credentialing and voluntary education programs. Her passion for serving and supporting America’s service personnel has led her to an exceedingly successful and fulfilling 33 years of Civilian Service.

Prior to joining Civilian Service, Ms. Harrison worked as an accountant with Shell Oil Company, Houston, Texas, and chemical sales representative with Occidental Chemical Corporation. Returning to her hometown of Pensacola, Florida, she earned a Master of Business Administration at the University of West Florida and shortly after began her Civilian Service career in the Public Affairs Office at Naval Air Station Pensacola.

Ms. Harrison entered Federal Civilian Service in 1989 as the Community Relations Director for Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. She was later promoted to Media Officer. In 1996, she transferred to the Public Affairs Office at Naval Education and Training Command and continued to advance to her current position as NETC’s executive strategist and visionary. In her current capacity, Ms. Harrison leads a broad range of critical functional areas focusing on future capabilities to further support and develop America’s Naval force including strategic planning, research and development, innovation, emerging training technologies and methods, data management, corporate analytics, and voluntary education.

When she is not providing functional expertise for the Naval Education and Training Command, Ms. Harrison participates in several local and national charitable activities. Her desire to help others in need has led her to provide board service and take roles including Chairperson, West Florida Hospital Rehabilitation Center Board of Advisors, Families Count Executive Board, and Chairperson, First United Methodist Church Council on Ministries.
