Description
Watch the recording from this month's webinar!
Who knows how many training systems and tools are used across the DOD? Yet with the push toward a synthetic training environment, the need to gather and analyze longitudinal training and performance data across a multitude of training systems is becoming a more critical need. In this webinar, we will visit with members of the team behind STEEL-R (Synthetic Training Environment Experiential Learning for Readiness). STEEL-R provides a model for establishing a common data interoperability layer that could result in data traceability, evidence-based training decisions, and substantial reduction of manual data collection. STEEL-R is an example of the application of Learning Engineering which was discussed in the June Tech Connect Webinar.
Meet the Speakers
Ben Goldberg, Ph.D. is a senior research scientist at the U.S. Army DEVCOM – Soldier Center and serves as the technical team lead for a research program focused on the development and evaluation of Training Management Tools for future Army training systems. His research is focused on the application of intelligent tutoring and artificial intelligence techniques to build scalable adaptive training solutions that improve performance and accelerate mastery and readiness overtime. Dr. Goldberg has researched adaptive instructional systems for the last 15 years and has been published across several high-impact journals and conference proceedings. He holds a Ph.D. in Modeling & Simulation from the University of Central Florida and is co-creator of the open source Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT).
Robby Robson, Ph.D. is a researcher, entrepreneur, and standards professional known for creative and disruptive innovation. After receiving his doctorate from Stanford, Robby spent fifteen years as a research mathematician in the areas of semi-algebraic geometry and computational number theory. He became interested in Learning Technology and technical standards after co-creating one of the first online learning systems and online Calculus courses in 1996. Following a brief stint in the Silicon Valley, Robby co-founded Eduworks Corporation, became its CEO in 2001, and retired as CEO in 2022. As its chief science officer, he is currently developing the next generation of competency management, talent analytics, and skills-based talent pipeline solutions.
