Congressional M&S Leadership Summit 2025 Recap
The NTSA 2025 M&S Congressional Caucus Leadership Summit was held in Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday, February 18. Congressman John Rutherford, in whose district this was held, was present for opening remarks and for most of the day. The topic of this year’s summit was Artificial Intelligence and Modeling, simulation and Training. The Summit explored the rapid expansion and advances of this technology, the role of federal policy and regulations, and the need to establish guard rails that protect Americans, our intellectual property, and our safety and security. The keynote address was given by Dr. Jane Pinelis, Chief AI Engineer at Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory. Three panels which followed discussed the role of legislation, gaps in the technologies, and best practices in the application of AI in the MS&T industry. Working groups consolidated the issues of the day, and proposed areas in which legislation could be beneficial moving forward. The proceedings from this meeting will be finalized and posted to the NTSA website. The proceedings will also be sent to the M&S Congressional Caucus for consideration and action.
